A beautiful MATCHED SET of NOS surviving  1.6m / each (5.5ft) black outer NATURAL Rubber line cords (from the early 50s). Cloth covered inner-sheath, with copper shielded braid, and  2 conductors, also rubber white / black, tinned 16ga copper. NOS (new) never installed or placed into service. The rubber is strong, and thick yet still supple and flexible after all these years.  This wire was made under one of the last special contracts requiring real rubber and treated cotton, and it's internally shielded, which makes it perfect for Line Cord, short speaker run, crossovers or Interconnects.

The wire has a beautiful heavy rubber jacket, made with beeswax impregnated rubber. This natural based flexibility preserving and insulating additive fell out of favor as newer vinyl, PVC and teflon jackets were rapidly adpopted after WWII, making this natural Rubber / Cotton wire a rare, and wonderful sounding find!

Rated for use as USA Mains Power cord, so safe to use for that application.

After the 1940s, Teflon, PVC, Polyethelene and became cheaper and more available than nice rubber.  These postwar plastics dominated the insulated  wire field for decades, and are the darling of on industry. Generally wire like this fell out of production, after WWII, as the ability to synthesize rubbers and PVC, replaced cloth, rayon or rubber as wire insulation of choice.

For sound quality, and preservation, HiFi, and recording applications -- it's wise to stick with natural treated rubber / cotton. It's preferred for it's sound neutrality (read the listener feedback in other listing), resistance to static buildup, and lower "dead" anneal copper that was more slowly drawn  back in the 1950s. The original, natural rubber was treated with beeswax -- this enhances lifespan, and flexiblity. It feels and looks beautiful -- perfect and very old -- great for your vintage audio use.

The 2 internal  conductors are tinned copper, as is the outer braided shield (also known as a "drain"). The shielded braid you connect to ground if desired, then it acts to protect from both Radio and Electromagnetic interferrence. The shield can also be used as a 3rd conductor -- ideal for use as a grounded or a balanced wire.  Inside the woved copper shield, is a liner of Natural Sisal -- a fiber with non-reactive qualities that aides in flexibility and insulation ( see exhibit D )

These line cords were intended to be used with tube power amplifiers and recording equipment back in the early 1950s -- they were never installed, so they are new, NOS stock. They have installed a beautiful AC mains 2 prong, all setup for Line cord application. This high quality phenolic plug can be removed easily with screwdriver for later use. The applications quality was critical, and made to incredible quality standard -- shielded wire like this is very uncommon -- and a rare and highly suggested premium wire for your next audio restoration project. Reports in from our customers confirm this quality wire sounds neutral, uncolored and has very revealing detail.

It's also excellent for shielded audio wire. This type of wire was typically used by RCA, Western Electric GA, D-Spec, - Military -Altec, Collins and other for broadcast recording, and by other manufacturers of high quality like Lansing (prewar), Jensen, and for equalization, phono connections and associated apparatus meant to carry High Fidelity audio.

These cords are finished as A/C line cords (mains AC 120 volt) -- but you can use them for audio applications of any kind. Each section is about 1.6meter or about 5.5ft long and in beautiful, shinny, wax treated gleaming condition. The internal stranded conductors designed for high quality audio .... 2 insulated wires total..... white / black -- and the outer shielded sheath is also usable for a ground. The individual wires are approx 16 gauge .022." OD each / internal conductors are high quality stranded, tinned.

This is old wire, and sounds better.

By comparison, modern wires, often treated with heavy plastcizers, and covered with plastic that's prone to static buildup -- just does not sound the same. Frequently modern wire suffers from lingering harshness and a tendency to sound zippy.

Measure first for your use,  (please see photos and reports below)   The outer dia is about .375"  (9,5mm) and the inner 2 stranded conductors are about 16ga or (.025"), the OD of the outer ground shielded braid is (.22") or so. Tough to find cloth shielded wire so nicely preseved, NOS surviving after 60 years!

Original wires like this  sell quickly.

Check my 100% feedback (check over what buyers have to say ... they love vintage wire for it's tone-neutral characteristics and I get allot of repeat customers ) ...always fast shipping, and always safe double box packing !!

100% happiness assured on all old audio items.
