This remote is in fair cosmetic shape and untested . Check your use and compatibility first, to be sure it's right for you. The sticker on the base is not present, based on previous holdings, we are nearly certain it is the Ampex # 4010080-02 -- the factory remote for the entire Ampex AG 440 series of studio reel to reel machines (440-1 thru -8)  The buttons seem solid and nice. This unit has numerous flaws from age and handling. The most notalbe flaws, are two missing light lenses above the "Record" and "Play" buttons. The Original orange lense, above the "Stop and "edit" buttons is still present, though a bit loose. The bulbs are present, for all indicators otherwise, and look OK and serviceable along with the rest of the assembly (see exhibit A & C).  The brilliant black texture finish is still mostly gleaming and though it does have nicks & chips along the top edge and rim. This piece is in Fair condition, and still presents nicely. (see Exhibit A, B,C). The cord is still OK, serviceable, it's very long and and pretty flexible, I did not uncoil to see, but it appears to be close to 19ft, as were our previous units. The cord needs a alot of cleaning, and the Cinch Jones Ampex interface plug is nice and tight.  This remote is wired with a long cord ... and has the standard Ampex Cinch Jones plug, for your machine -- because of this standard Ampex connector -- this remote may also function with minimal changes on the older machines like the 351 and 350 (check google for more info).

A rarely seen Ampex accessory. We think it's the Model # 4010080 -- these remotes were made during the late 1960s, well into the mid 1970s -- for  Ampex's watershed revsion of their mainstay ... the reliable and great sounding studio reel to reel.  This one is from around 1968. It's hefty, and a beautiful crafted black hammertone steel remote control, table sitting style (versus the panel mount). Amazingly cool looking and feeling. This remote is catalogued for the AG-440 series, up to the largest 1" multitrack machines, from the late 1960s -- these were reliable studio quality machines. This remote will likely work with many other units in the 300 series, thanks to the similar Jones plug... and likely the AG500 solid state too. This remote is looks great and is untested. Check your needs and application before purchase, to be sure it's right for you.

Ampex of the 1950s - 1960s was the most expensive -- top grade tape equipment of it's era. By the mid 1960's Ampex, the tube era was at the end of it's line -- the era of huge multitrack API and Neve consoles had come to bear and tape had to be revised, tweaked and streamlined -- for the large studio recorders, no small task.  ..  The costly result what many professionals still revere to day -- the first generation AG 440 series....These large machines were fabulously expensive, and were the standard of studios and high quality mobile field recording for the audio business until way into the digital era. The best recordings of the rock & roll era were generally made with these Ampex machines.

This remote is untested . Check your use and compatibility first, to be sure it's right for you.

The document / sheets shown are included.

See our 100% feedback, to be assured SAFE PACKING & DELIVERY. This is likely the only nicest one of these you will see in a long time. Very needful if you are getting a stationary or portable Ampex setup going. The perfect gift for owners / collectors of early tube era Ampex Tape machines, or anybody who wants to control a transport from afar, with really powerful, oversized buttons!

Overbuilt to the point it's heirloom quality for sure.    Buy now to avoid a bidder's war ..  take your time, study the photo ... and jump on it soon -- these are not common ... most were lost during moves, location recordings or worn out because they were so useful for sessions! -- this is our last one... so it will sell quickly. Please read our 100%, 5 star feedback. All happy customers.
