A beautiful pair of tested, matched genuine 1960's era all original Western Electric 310A. Study all of the photos below and view test reports. These are the ultra sought after originals, now over 50 years years old! ... The real McCoy that everybody wants.

The 310A is one of the world's most famous voltage gain stage pentode tubes. A well deserved reputaion as one of the finest too (along side it's brother the 310B and cousin's the 328A / 348 -- all closely related tubes). If you are running amps or preamps that can utilize this these -- treat yourself and run only vintage WECO examples ---  such as these. They are such nice sounding and long life driver tubes -- you'll immediatly realize this if upgrading to 1950s/60s and 70s genuine vintage units.

Made during a health 50 year span, suffice it to say there are countless varients in construction .... I'll touch on than when approriate in another listings of other tubes.

We have here a beautiful pair, (see exhibits C & D for dates)  with boxes

These tubes test very strong & sound wonderful -- Guaranteed NO DOA.  They'll provide the sound and excellent lifespan you can rely only on very old WECO tubes for.  These are original production from 26th week of 1960 & 39th week of  1962!

As well as relative close production -- the construction & performance are also as close as you're likely to see ... so a set like this is a rarity and as long as you own them --- they'll probably rise in value.  Early 60's (single D getter) Western Electric tubes like this will outlast and outperform many newer tubes of similar design ... they were made to the highest standards ... and have a wonderfuly accurate sound quality with amazing resolution & musicality. You can really hear the legendary smoothness, yet very agile & dynamic. Carefully stored for years in original era Western Electric boxes (some stains on boxes from storage many years).

Both tubes sounded beautiful when played with music when tested in WE 91 type single ended amp & 10volts volts filament.  No noise, great function, in circuit.  NO SHORTS, both checked perfect beyond 2 megohms in Jackson machine. ) Tests made in multiple calibrated testers, including a Calibrated TV/7 the world's standard for WE tubes.... BOTH are STRONG on GM (mutual conductance) (TV7 minimum is 30), (#1) 52 , (#2) 53 ... a close match on these!

They also score very well on the projected life. A test in which tubes are tested under reduced filament voltage. They thus have a good spacial charge.... retaining a good estimated life remaining!

Bases are tight. Tubes have been powered & used, for not very long ... as the still shinny flashing indicates. The clarity of glass is another indicator these had light duty & low hours (the TV7 / Jackson life test was good for both). . See photos.

Both tubes have clear beautiful bottle tops....tight bases. All signs indicate these tubes have not been used much and have had a pretty easy life thus far. Both have about the same flashing, thick, shinny, but no darkness and absolutely no burns...

Yellow letters NICE on both.   These gorgeous bakelite bases are both sturdy - no cracks.

The original 1X type side D getter arrangement (made starting late 1930ss to early mid 1960s at least) 310A is getting a bit rare now -- still those wanting the best sound should spend aquire real WE just like these. They will sell quickly, as they are quite useful in a variety of designs. . Since these tubes were produced  with in two years and at the same factory -- they have the same getter design, and all the same internals --- very important to the collector and DiY user.

Vintage Western Electric's are the king tube sound - you will hear enhanced clarity and a great delectible tone. 1950s/1960s tubes generally test stronger and produce even better quality audio than later production types. Collectors know  this .... originals are for the keeping and using!

This beautiful matched pair will sell very quickly. See our 100% feedback, to be assured SAFE PACKING & DELIVERY. These are likely the nicest, with original boxes .. and most throughly tested you'll see anywhere.  They  come with original type WECO  cotton excelsior and boxes -- will be TRIPLE BOXED in strong 275lb triwall cartons.
