JBL of the 1960s and (leading in the early 1970s); self proclaimed masters of technology and art. Grandiose perhaps ... but also generally true during this period in their history.

Cast frames are the same incrediblly smooth & heavy quality as all 1960s era JBL woofers ... that is to say they're the same general casting as D130, and the famous D150 products (as used in Hartsfield & Paragon to name a few -- the 150 was different added the thick spacer ring on top of standard frame). As competitors such as Altec Lansing & Electrovoice hit the rocks after the huges 1950's HiFi fad wained...JBL kept quite a high quality ethic straight through the late 1970s.

CONES:  These are the original cones (see exhibit E to see the OEM cone #21513 on each cone...) and coils are the thick, beefy D-140 model, the Real McCoy .... All paper cones, dark, thick & supple ... meaning a large power handling / rating and DEEPER, quite walloping BASS (opposed to consumer models with aluminum dust caps -- brighter)... these D-140's were intended orignally for some really powerful, low bass, open back, tube driven tone cabinet's from the late 1960s.

COILS:  Checked out great and matched. Nicely matched DCR  both units .. (see test reports in Exhibit A and F) is right around 5 ohms, factory rated at a NOMINAL 8 ohms (see factory tag exhibit G).

CONES:  (Study exhibits B,C)  Very nice, quite clean, just some dust from the many years.  Original cones, with matching OEM #s (see exhibit E)

This really is a nice, matched set. Just out of careful storage and ready to play.....you're just not going to find a clean pair like this ... throughly checked out and fussed over (perhaps the prettiest online, anywhere). Just inspected by technition w/reports and tested clean with MUSIC -- they sounded very smooth and detailed (LF) when tested.

They thumped to life with beefy lows, and evidenced very detailed mid-bass, with just a few tube watts!

COSMETICS are really nice. Unit #2 has a a few scuffs on it's rear magnet(study exhibit A, G, and F). And, a very minor paint chipping around frames on both units #1 & 2 frames (see exhibit A,E). All very normal for their advanced age.

These woofers were constructed during a time when quality materials were pure, hefty and plentiful; and workers had time to refine wonderful products.   Buy these if you need really tough, quality drivers for medium to high power tube amps -- almost any deep LF application -- just about anywhere where you need it to be punchy & detailed with perfect tone. Really great for vintage MARSHALL & FENDER BASS AMPS too.

View Exhibits (A & F) for Serial #s which are very close considering. View exhibits (A & F) to see ACTUAL Z SWEEP / DCR reports -- a nice match! Very rare to find surviving, nice matching originals like this -- For this reason: they'll sell quickly. Lots of overseas interest for vintage USA quality. Buy now to avoid a bidder's war, beautiful looking and sounding collector's woofers.

See my 100% feedback for all happy customers. Speakers are carefully bolted together, wrapped with care and double boxed. Guaranteed NO DOA and safe arrival.
