Seller Notes: well matched pair from the mid 1950s/60s. Unit #1 June, 1954 tests 76 (min 58 TV7) 110% emission.  Unit #2 April, 1960 78 (min 58), 110% emission, both tubes are used gently and have fair projected life. They were carefully stored as spares for many years, part of an estate. Tubes are very closely matched in performance (see test reports Exhibit B,C,D,E). Both tubes look nice, unit #1 has slight browning on top, unit # 2 has slight carbon (hard to see even under bright lights) from manufacture. Tubes are good, working well, both were tested in a WE91A circuit and sound great. These mid 1950s/early 1960s tubes are from the apex of Western Electric's quality. These old WE300B's better built, with finer detail and longer life.

 Guaranteed NO DOA.  They'll provide the detail and tone you can rely only on very old WECO triodes for.  These are original production... Unit #1 is from June, 1954 and features a single D getter.  Unit #2 is from April, 1960 and features a double D design. They are generally very a very close match in production, and  construction -- and especially performance -- pretty rare to see... this set is a rarity and as long as you own, they'll probably rise in value.  Early D getter Western Electric 300B tubes like this will outlast and outperform many newer triodes of similar design ... they were made to the highest standards ... and have a wonderfuly accurate sound quality with amazing resolution & musicality. You can really hear the legendary smoothness, while simultaneously very agile & dynamic. Carefully stored for years in original era Western Electric boxes (some stains and wear on boxes from storage many years).

Both tubes sounded beautiful when played with music when tested in WE 91 single ended circuit & 5.2 volts filament.  Good function, in the single ended circuit.  NO SHORTS, both checked perfect beyond 2 megohms in Jackson machine. ) Tests made in multiple calibrated testers, including a Calibrated TV/7 the world's standard for WE tubes.... GM (mutual conductance) (TV7 minimum is 58 which is 65%), (#1) 76 , (#2) 78 ... a closely performing match!  

For easy reference, see Exhibits (B,C). The pair reads about MATCHED at 110% on Jackson 648R at full load.  These are used tubes, scoring a fair rating in projected life. A test in which tubes are tested under reduced filament voltage.

  Bases are tight. Tubes have been used  ... the flashing is still thick and mostly shinny indicating gentle use. The clarity of glass is another indicator these had light duty  Both tubes have generally clear envelopes, unit # 1 has very slight browning, and both exhhit minor gray carbon, from their initial manufacture. Both have tight bases. All signs indicate these tubes were used carefully had a pretty easy life thus far. Both have about the same flashing...  Yellow letters perfect on both.   These gorgeous bakelite bases are both sturdy - no cracks. 

The original  era of the D getter arrangement (begininng in the  late 40s, htne double D to early 1960s) 300B is getting quite scarce now. This is the best sounding postwar 300B. They postdate & predate the more common ring or round halo design.

    Vintage Western Electric's are the king of triode sound - you will hear enhanced clarity, great tone, agile pitch - all the while maintaining legendary smoothness. 1950s 300B's generally test stronger and produce even better quality audio than triodes of the  later production. Collectors know originals are for the keeping and using!
