Seller Notes: In our personal collection for years. All original except for the USA line cord end. A bit dusty from storage, otherwise cosmetic condition near mint. Works well, tested for several hours. Sounded so nice, I didn't want to turn it off!

Over here in the states, we didn't see many of these! This was an import, as you can see, the line cord converted carefully to 120V mains. ( it is 120 / 220V switchable). Tested and working great. These were produced early 1990 til sometime in 1994.

Like NAD, another (design only) british firm...and one of the leaders of British audio back in the 80s is quite common.

Further up the totem pole in the High End sector we have another British outfit - Musical Fidelity (design AND in-house manufacture). They made some of the absolute best straight up power amps and preamps. Musical Fidelity (or British Fidelity as it was previously known), was much more expensive, higher quality and few were sold. In Europe they're well known and sought after.  Using no fewer than 16 power output tansistors! (See exhibit B). The deisgner / owner of Musical Fidelity Anothony Michaelson, obviously wnated a conservatively rated, ultra pure power amp with current capacity to spare. A very wise move, as you listen... you can tell this amp has incredible control of transients and super-normal dampening. Much more so than your typical amp of such a size and weight.  The balanced inputs are a classy ... if inconvenient touch... allowing the utmost quality input signals, and giving you the conveinance of trouble free bridging.

We've owned it for years, just now getting around to selling. Tested in both channels for a total of 7 hours here. I can testify it sounds wonderful -- once it's on, you don't want to turn it off.. In fact, it's  a bit better than our benchmark of SS amps. .. the NAD 3020. That places these amps ahead of *many* tube jobs we've tested around here over the last 20 years!  These amps sound so nice. Where your typical well centered amp does it's job ... this amp hits every note perfectly and then some ... leaving you to want more and more.

The british have always had a way with solid state designs, and this is no exception. It delivers clean quiet power, with a wonderfully sweet, balanced and mystically musical dimeanor. Absolutly  no harshnes or coloration I can detect .. . and fabulous detail.  It is just as clean as any Class D amp you could ever find...this is a better buy. I really love these amps.... Truly highly recommended!

Hard to find over here in the USA, you normally have to import them.

Keep in mind, it was once of the first audiophile products  to feature *only* balanced inputs. So you'll need XLR wires, along with adapters (you can make your own or get tham at your local radio shack).

The 1980s saw continued refinement of Mid and High End audiophile specific amps. We saw the end of the 1970s, fading along with the decade were  giant, monstrous amps. With simple by-the-book, unbuffered output transistor pairs these old school amps pumped out needlessly excessive wattage ( with meters if course!). As the market matured, it gave way to the refined and sleek, narrow black housings, with more carefully inpit and output buffering.

As hifi speaker design progressed away from muddy and inefficient acoustic sealed and tuned port boxes... to better transmission line designs ... less power was needed. This really helped clean up the field, as lower watts means less distortion ... cleaner amplification.
The late 70s brought us the British designed, built in Taiwan, the  NAD 3020 integrated. For those who needed only 30wpc with the baggage of and integrated pre. This was probably the best  mid fi amp of the next two decades.. in its price range.

If you need a clean, and unusually good sounding power amp, in the range of 45 watts/per channel. It's hard to imagine finding a better one. Quality hand built in England.  They did not sell many here, so you'd normally have to import. People know these are great amps, and it's liekly to sell quickly.
